Complete 2008-2009 Tennessee Basketball Schedule Released

    By rbk | July 27, 2008

Last night the UTAD released the official 2008-2009 Tennessee Volunteer basketball schedule, adding a few home non-conference games and cementing dates for the SEC slate.

The late February / early March SEC schedule is a doozy, as it always seems to be. The Vols will be @Lexington and @Gainesville in addition to home contests against likely West leaders Mississippi State and Alabama.

Memphis is the latest non-conference opponent again this year, but this time we get them out of the way before the bulk of the SEC season. The non-conference schedule will feature several premier programs on the national stage, as it has every year under Coach Pearl. There will be late November contests in the Old Spice Classic, at least 2 of which are likely to be against NCAA tournament teams. In mid-December the Vols get Marquette in Nashville for the Big East-SEC Basketball Challenge, and then in January they face Kansas in Lawrence and get a return trip from Gonzaga before hosting rival Memphis. It should add up to another strong RPI for Tennessee.
