Terrible loss
By rbk | February 7, 2009
What more is there to say? Our effort was terrible, our hustle was non-existent, and we deserved to lose that game. Auburn is not a good team but they outfought us and deserved to win.
This is the first loss this season that I really think this team should be ashamed of. Bruce needs to rip this team up one end and down the other. There is just simply no excuse for the way we played in this game.
I haven’t been this upset about a loss in a really long time, so I’ll hold off saying more until I can think more clearly.

JP lost his composure and needlessly fouled when we had a 75-73 lead and the ball. Instead of yapping and being cheap, please just play basketball.
Lack of hustle on the FT rebound with 10-15 sec left gave Auburn the ball and a good shot at the lead. Poor defensive communication on switches gave them the lay-up.
JP is also not the guy we want dribbling the ball down court with 4.3 sec left to play. His outside shot is terrible. Bobby would be my preference with Scotty as the alternative from 3 or Chism on a quick longer pass.
That couple of minutes summarized the whole game. We are not good enough to turn it on when we want to. Play hard the whole game and put these less-talented teams away.
Lack of discipline, lack of hustle on the boards and stupid decision-making cost us against a 2-5 Auburn team.
If we miss out on the tournament, we can point to this game as a “bad loss” that helped shut the door. There’s definitely something different/missing about this team and last year’s from a chemistry and basketball IQ standpoint.
